Kolbenschmidt Pistons is your partner for the development and supply of highly efficient piston systems. Our aluminum and steel pistons are used in gasoline and diesel passenger cars and commercial vehicles, from small cars to heavy trucks, in engines for hybrid technology and alternative fuels. Our many years of experience also include applications for industry, agriculture, compressors and recreation.
Our focus is always on efficiency, CO2 reduction and emission control. For this, we successfully develop solutions for reducing friction, increasing thermal and mechanical load capacity and achieving emmision targets. History
In 1910, Karl Schmidt laid the foundations for Kolbenschmidt’s business activities today by founding the “Deutsche Ölfeuerungswerke Karl Schmidt” in Heilbronn. In 1917, the business moved to Neckarsulm, ensuring personal and physical proximity to the automotive industry, as Karl Schmidt’s father Christian Schmidt was already established there with the car brand NSU (later bought by Audi). For more than 100 years – from 1920 – the company has been manufacturing pistons.
